CULTURA PRESENTA ART AL VENT 2026

The Councilor for Culture, Àngels Soler, presented, this morning, together with the coordinator, Josep Ginestar, Art al Vent 2026 which this year celebrates its XXII, consolidating itself as the cultural event that marks the beginning of summer in Gata.

The most important outdoor textile art exhibition in Spain, as it has been defined, starts on Friday, July 3 and can be visited until July 24.

The main novelty this year is the change of location, since due to the renovation works on Carrer la Bassa it will not be possible to hold the exhibition in the traditional circuit. Thus, from Cultura, looking for the visibility of the exhibition and access, it has been decided to locate it in Plaça Església, Carrer Dr Gómez Ferrer, Carrer Constitució to Plaça Nova. Before making the decision, the coordination team discussed several options to find the most suitable place so that the 83 exhibited works from 17 different countries can be seen from the balconies.

Likewise, after the change in past editions, the Department of Culture has decided to keep the dates in July and thus seek a deseasonalization of the visits that our town receives and escape the months where the heat is most intense.

Àngels Soler wanted to thank, first of all, all the participants who “from all over the world send their works to be exhibited in the streets of Gata.” Also to the neighbors who allow the works to hang from their balconies.

Ginestar spoke about the evolution of the exhibition in these 23 editions, acquiring new characteristics and new profiles of participants, evolving towards a creative craft.

In addition, Ginestar highlighted that the exhibition also serves a useful purpose for the municipality, has become a sign of identity for the town and bears the name of Gata around the world thanks to the participants and also visitors who come to visit Art al Vent and share their photos and at the same time is a boost for the commercial fabric.

The Councilor for Culture, Àngels Soler, has spoken about the complementary cultural programming that will take place during Art al Vent and that invites both the people of the town and visitors to go out into the streets during the summer nights. Among the activities, music will be the protagonist but also talks, guided tours...

And one of the activities that takes center stage this year is a visual performance that will be held on Saturday, July 11 in Plaça Nova that will combine visual art, made by professionals Cristian and Paloma Gordiani, an artistic performance designed by Moon, a student at the A. Vives de Gata Experimental Plastic School and made by other students, and the work of the tin through artisan hands.

Finally, the Councilor for Culture, Àngels Soler, has invited everyone to participate in the inaugural event next Friday, July 3 at 8 p.m. in Plaça de l'Església and, of course, to enjoy the exhibition and the various activities scheduled.
